The blessing of sleep

Short Summary of the majlis 18 March 2018 Hadhrat Maulana Adam Sahib Hafizahullah A sahabi ra asked the prophet ‎ﷺ that will the people of Jannah go to sleep. The prophet ‎ﷺ replied that sleep is the brother of death and in Jannah no one will die and no one will sleep. Sleep comes due to tiredness if we don’t sleep for one day we feel tired. Sleep is a great blessing. Our eyes are a great blessing. If we lose one we have another. If we lose both then we will get a great reward in the hereafter (Jannah). Even our ears are such a great blessing, just think what would we do without them? Even relieving ourselves (going to the toilet) is such a great blessing. We should recite the dua before and after going. Even sleep is a great blessing. We should recite the dua when we sleep and wakeup. Some people have such great wealth but are not able to sleep. Sleep is an example of death. It is similar. ‎اللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى الْأَنفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَالَّتِي لَمْ تَمُتْ فِي مَنَامِهَا ۖ فَيُمْسِكُ الَّتِي قَضَىٰ عَلَيْهَا الْمَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ الْأُخْرَىٰ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. Then He keeps those for which He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified term. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. [39:43]. There is no tiredness in Jannah, therefore no sleep. Whenever we see anyone in Jannah they will not be tired. There will be many people in Jannah more than millions too. All the people from Adam as till the Ummah of our prophet ‎ﷺ. So the sahaba asked that if everybody gets together when we are going to get to see Allah ‎ﷻ, then how will we see Allah ‎ﷻ. The prophet ‎ﷺ gave an example of the moon. That everyone can see it together, no matter how many people are there. If this is the state of a creation of Allah ‎ﷻ, what will seeing Allah ‎ﷻ be like? SubhanAllah Sometimes we have dreams where we are travelling to places or different things are happening. No one that is near us will know what is happening in our dream. This is the state of the people in aalam barzakh too. We don’t know the state of people that pass away. We should recite durood and all of our duas and surahs before we fall asleep. Once someone came to Hadhrat Zakariyya ra and said that he had a dream that there was such a great snake in the office of Hadhrat Zakariyya ra that it overcame all the books and everything in the room. Then Hadhrat Zakariyya said not to worry so much as he was a pious man and he had prayed his duas before sleeping. He also said that if it had to mean anything then the person would find out soon. Then after a few hours someone came from a different city with bags of money. So then Hadhrat Zakariyya ra called the man and said to him, this is the meaning of the dream. The money is the snake that we should stay away from. So when some one is having a dream, we don’t know what is happening in their dreams. So we won’t sleep in Jannah because it’s a different type of life. We wont be tired. Allah ‎ﷻ is merciful. ‎مَّا يَفْعَلُ اللَّهُ بِعَذَابِكُمْ إِن شَكَرْتُمْ وَآمَنتُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ شَاكِرًا عَلِيمًا Why should Allah deal chastisement to you if you are grateful to Him and believe? Allah is All-Appreciative, All-Knowing. [4:147] We should think that we are the servants of Allah ‎ﷻ so we should at least do some actions which please Him.
